About Michael

Michael Isserles is a teen author who has been writing for as long as he can remember. After writing two novels with a group of kids his age through an organization called Written Out Loud, Michael desired to spearhead a project of his own. Success did not come to him at first, for many novels were started without an end in sight.

After two years, Michael started The Kid Who's Cursed, a teen drama and supernatural thriller. The first draft was written from his freshman to sophomore years of high school, and this first novel of his was released on February 28, 2025. Michael was incredibly proud of this first work, especially when it came to some of the thriller aspects and character building, but saw many of the weaknesses that came without experience.

This led to Michael working on a second novel, called 927 Hours. Beginning towards the back half of his sophomore year and continuing work until the very end of his junior year, he knew that this novel was far stronger than the prior. He spent far more time fleshing out a full story, characters, themes, and motifs to ensure that the novel could be lifted up by having a richer plot placed on each page.

However, the production of this novel was incredibly tiring, and after the first two drafts were complete, Michael stepped away to work on a series of short stories. At first, there was no sign of these being published, but after the first three were complete, he decided that he wanted to pursue the publishing of these stories. Requiem of the Artist would be released on February 27, 2026, containing eight short stories. Of these eight, four would be based in the teen genre that he had already written much in: Circle Game, The Perplexing Painting of Chaos, The Legacy of the Obituary, and Warfare and the Waterbender. The other four would be based on fantasy, mythological, and aspects of tragedy: Onyrokosmos, The Modern Theogony, The Mask of the Arcadia, and Echo. All of them deal with questions of humanity through the lens of art.

After the collection was released, Michael returned to 927 Hours to drive it to publishing. The story felt far richer after he was able to spend more time learning about literary tactics and exploring his strengths through the short stories, and he was able to sharpen his style of teen writing. He was incredibly happy with the four point of view characters: Autumn, a Mormon running from her past; Leo, who wishes to stop harming those around him; Silena, a girl driven to be true to herself alongside her lone friend; and Octavius, who predicts the death of them all. Additionally, the supernatural aspects felt far stronger to him than they had been before. The novel would go on to release on June 12, 2026.

Now, Michael looks on as he moves into college, but he still plans to write over the coming years. Although he knows that many aspects of his life may change, he knows that more novels of his will be written over the coming years.
